Over-Pinking
The Accademia di Belle Arti di
Venezia is opening the exhibition “Over-Pinking“ at Spuma. Space for the Arts (Giudecca). The exhibition is the result of
the Erasmus cooperation between the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia and the University of Applied Arts Vienna, i.e. works
that emerged from the workshop “Fiber-Art, Arachne Nets”, which took place at the beginning of the year with guest lecturer Dr.
                                          Silke Geppert (Collection and Archive).
 The students of the Giudecca
art school were confronted with textiles, or more precisely with 200 meters of peach-colored velvet, donated by Homo Faber
in 2024. In the exhibition Over-Pinking, the fabric serves both as a carrier for found motifs and as a representation of itself.
The works shown demonstrate how the liberation of material from its original decorative function can lead to new levels of
meaning and thus stand in the tradition of emancipatory movements in modern art. The photographs of the works and the editing
of the catalog were done by students of Prof. Carlo Tombola's New Technologies in the Arts (NTA) department.
